To celebrate Euro 2024, I challenged myself to design a visual identity for one of the competing nations - highlighting its stars, colors, symbols and attempting to capture what set it apart.
As a popular exercise among my peers, I wanted to land on a squad with a little less name recognition and prestige, but just as much character - finally picking a surprise or recent international tournaments, Luka Modrić-led Croatia.
My biggest goal was to design a system that was both flexible enough to allow all potential graphics to fit snuggly within, while also being uniquely Croatian. I based the concept around the iconic checkerboard and a grid system at its extension.
